Christmas that is.
The day started at the respectable hour of 5:30 with baby girl's awakening. Emerson followed a little less than an hour later. We all padded downstairs in our pjs and stood in awe of what awaited us (the magic of santa for emerson and the magic of experiencing christmas through your own children for us adults). Emerson opened a few gifts and then we all paused long enough to make coffee and start a fire. We spent the rest of morning opening gifts, playing, sitting in front of the hearth, and watching Christmas cartoons. Poor baby girls was fighting a terrible battle with her teeth which produced a low grade fever, biblical levels of mucus, and a general feeling of malaise. Emerson successfully navigated a day full of tv watching, chocolate covered pretzels for lunch, and no nap. We were able to skype with the Pelletiers of Northfield and the Walshes of Wakefield. Our friends F.G. and Angie joined us for a dinner of rare roast beast (which was something that Emerson and Lisette didn't mind in the least), potato galette, roasted brussels sprouts, and arugula salad. The meal was rounded out with some delicious wine, Bev's ice cream, and Edna's amazing cake. All in all a wonderful day... we are really so incredibly fortunate.
Wishing us all love, peace, and joy!
