4 Rocks!
Our May has been aMAYzing...
Emerson turned 4 this year and what a birthday season it has been! First, on the actual day he got to have a meal of his choosing, which turned out to be "hot dogs, mashed potatoes, and ketchup." Followed by a Bev's ice cream cake (a Vendetti-Pelletier tradition). We ate the cake over the next week or so as we continued to bask in the glory of four. Saturday, May 5th also marked the return of our favorite farmer's market which means 2 things - gorgeous local produce and DONUTS!
We also welcomed the beautiful Isadora Singh into the world and have been able to spend some time with her at the Farmer's Market as well.
For Mother's day weekend we had Angie and FG over for an "all local" Saturday night dinner that included a wonderful potato salad from Smitten Kitchen. Rach and Avery popped in for dessert and stayed for a great night of conversation. Bedtime was thrown out the window and the kids watched 2 episodes of Sesame Street until way late. The next day we went strawberry picking and ate some Country Time donuts (which are almost as good as Allie's Donuts back home). Lisette had a ball scooting down the strawberry fields eating berries along the way and Em was content to play with the toys in the farmer's front yard.
Last night (May 19) we had Emerson's friend party, which was a huge success. The boys, Avery and Mez all came ready to party. And by party we mean, eat massive amounts of potato chips, gulp as many juice boxes as possible, engage in some serious slip-n-slide stunts, and of course chow birthday cake. The cake was big hit and while cred goes to Martha for the recipe that orca is all me! The kids had such a good time that the adults actually got to kick back and relax. Baby girls was so enthralled I forgot where she was (several times) and people were happy to pass her around. While most party goers lasted until 7ish, our good friends John and Tuck stayed till the wee hours of the night (that would be 9:30 for a 4-year old) telling some crazy stories and catching the first fireflies of summer. It was one of those nights where you know you are making memories for your family.
Next weekend we head to RI for the family party because when I asked Emerson what he wanted to do for his birthday he said, "I want to go to grammie Aggie's... I love grammie Aggie." So obviously Kevin and I didn't think twice about making the crap drive from VA to RI, with those words it was a done deal.
We are looking forward to June and especially to the end of the school year!
