Gobble, Gobble

What a lovely, lovely day. We are lucky to have found a group of friends who love to eat and talk as much as we do and we are even luckier that they decided to join us for a day of gratitude and food. Even luckier still that they brought dishes to share! Our dearest friends, the Bresslers, made the 9+ hour journey (and with a monkey like Julian in the back seat that is nothing short of Herculean effort). We rewarded them by presenting massive amount of delicious food (because that is how I love people). The Bresslers got in very late Wednesday night and we had not told Emerson they were coming, so on Thursday morning Em was hanging out in his PJs and Whitman crept up the stairs (dressed already) and said hello to Em. Now if they were both girls, they would have shrieked and hugged and laughed and told each other how happy they were to see each other… instead Em took one look at Whit and said, “I have to go get dressed” (translation=my cool, older friend Whitman is here and I am in my footy PJs so I must get dressed so I can be cool like him). My boys are strange.  We began the day with good coffee and hugs (for the girls) and hurling insults (for the boys). Then it was time to cook. Soon our friends began arriving bearing food and drink. Then it was time to eat, and take a walk, and resume eating. It was certainly a day to be grateful for.

The next day a trip to Maymont, a place where animals and children alike are allowed to run free, was in order.
